The setting has relocated the action from Japan to a car factory in England in a whimsical re-imagining of the show in a humorous corporate world of bureaucracy and petty rivalries, which for modern audiences will more clearly reveal the biting satire of British society that Gilbert had always intended The Mikado to represent.
